Giddapahar Tea Estate SFTGFOP — First Flush Darjeeling Black Tea Flush

A rare, heritage single-estate Darjeeling from the 143-year-old Giddapahar garden perched at 4,800 ft on Eagle’s Cliff, Kurseong Valley. Crafted from century-old pure China tea bushes — prized for its light golden liquor, delicate muscatel character, and a lingering floral sweetness.

Sourced directly from one of Darjeeling’s last non-colonial, family-owned estates, this SFTGFOP (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) tea is harvested in early spring from 100+ year-old Chinese varietal bushes grown between 4,500–5,200 feet above sea level. Fourth-generation owner Sudanshu Shah personally oversees every step — from careful two-leaf-and-a-bud plucking to packaging.

Often called the “Champagne of Teas,” Darjeeling first flush is the most coveted and limited harvest of the year (March–April). The cool mountain mist, high altitude, and ancient China bush cultivars of Giddapahar Tea Estate combine to produce a cup of extraordinary refinement — light, aromatic, and never bitter.

1. Use 2–2.5g of loose leaf per 200 ml (7 fl oz) of water. Approx. 1 heaped teaspoon per cup
2. Heat water to 80–85°C (176–185°F). Never use boiling water — it dulls the delicate floral notes
3. Steep for 2–3 minutes. Extend to 4–5 min without bitterness if desired
4. Strain and serve plain — no milk. Milk masks the complex muscatel and floral character
5. Cold brew option: refrigerate for 3–4 hours, serve over ice. Enhances sweetness, reduces astringency

Giddapahar Tea Estate SFTGFOP is quality tea from hills of Kurseong and is near to Castelton and Makaibari Tea Garden.
